This was The Who Put The Boot In Tour on 31st May 1976 at Charlton FC – with The Who, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Little Feat, Outlaws, Streetwalkers and Widowmaker. I still have the programme & ticket. Travelled down to London by train from Wiltshire with friend Dick Graham. I mainly wanted to see The Sensational Alex Harvey Band as I loved them and had all their albums.

We were far up on the terraces of The Valley, a huge bowl of a stadium. I did enjoy this day but felt out of touch, self-conscious of being the naïve, shy public school boy I was. And then it pissed down so we left – to my shame - before The Who came on! There was trouble there to, but that just seemed perfectly natural. Football & festivals, in the 70s, came hand-in-hand with it. I was embarrassed about missing The Who for years after, and for a while pretended that I had actually seen them - ha! And I’ve still never seen them, but hey, I never really liked them anyway, except for Who’s Next and Live at Leeds.
..And 60s Who...And...Ah well...
...And SAHB were great, and I knew the significance and privilege of seeing Little Feat, the legendary US band fronted by Lowell George:
Oh, and I remember some nutter climbing high up one of the floodlight pylons!
Hey!! that 'nutter' was me....!!
